Reflector owners: read this

YSF Live is an independent, community-driven directory that helps amateur radio operators discover public Yaesu System Fusion reflectors that are online and showing recent activity. It is not affiliated with Yaesu.

How observation works

YSF Live uses limited protocol-level availability checks and activity observations. The service identifies itself as YSF-LIVE, does not record or store voice audio, and stores only limited technical metadata needed to show reflector status and recent activity.

YSF Live and reflector activity

YSF Live connects as a standard YSF client. During activity observation, it sends a small protocol keepalive approximately once per minute to maintain the connection and never originates YSF voice traffic.

When a station transmits, the reflector forwards the normal YSF stream to YSF Live just as it does to every other connected client. Transmissions do not cause YSF Live to increase its polling rate, and YSF Live does not record or store voice audio.

Some reflector implementations periodically include every connected gateway in their local status logs. For example, the classic G4KLX YSFReflector reports connected clients approximately every two minutes. Other reflector software, forks, and logging configurations may behave differently. These entries are routine local status records, not repeated transmissions or excessive requests from YSF Live.

Reflector owners should use log rotation and retention settings appropriate for their server and reflector software. Network packet debugging should normally remain disabled unless actively troubleshooting.

Operator control

Reflector operators may request immediate exclusion. Once excluded, automated availability checks, activity observations, and manual diagnostic connections are blocked. An active monitoring connection is also disconnected.
